I have observed one thing of late. A number of my friends have been constructing houses of their own. Once the house is completed, it is natural to start attending to the interiors of the house. But what is surprising is the fact before attending to any other important thing, they are looking to install whole house water filter first, for they do not want any member of the house to fall sick or suffer from the harmful effects of contaminated water. When building a DIY Greenhouse, there are several things that you will want to consider around your circumstances and environment. The first is the frame and the second is the covering. Most people who build their own greenhouse choose timber such as cedar to build the frame. Wood is easy to find and normally inexpensive. However, you can also use aluminum, steel or PVC as a simple frame so you may want to consider these as well before you start. Having a hard time giving your new garden space the “lived in” look you imagined when you started? Well, new building materials take time to develop a pleasant weathered look and feel, to be sure, but there are some building accent materials which can move along that overall feeling of beautiful age, and principal among them is copper. The gorgeous green patina of a copper post cap helps to give a fence or deck the richness and grace of years of use, and do it in a fraction of the time. In no time, shiny copper transforms from a glowing glossy orange to a more subtle and dull brown, and finally, as the oxidation process is completed, a mottled, multicolored green patina. Nearly instant age and beauty! Read the rest of this entry »

Vincent van Gogh (1853 –1890) is perhaps the greatest Dutch painter with the exception of Rembrandt. He has certainly produced some of the world’s most famous and identifiable works. The painting, Still Life: Japanese Vase with Roses and Anemones, was painted at the very end of his life when he lived in Auvers-sur-Oise, near Paris . Although many of his best known and best loved works were produced during this period, his painting may have been starting to take a different direction. His color palette is softened slightly, with the use of tonal pigments as well as his trademark strong colors. Van Gogh Fleur Tapestry, from Decor4u.com, captures this more nuanced presentation of a pale green vase full of a mix of pastel and bright blooms on a earth-toned cloth against a pale background. This outstanding wall hanging will add a note of sophistication to that special room. Read the rest of this entry »

If you are planning on laying vinyl flooring the first thing you need to do is calculate how much you need to buy. To work this out, measure the longest length of the floor and the longest width. Then multiply the 2 figures together. Next pull up the old flooring unless it is too difficult to remove, in which case you will need to lay the new floor on top of it. You will be able to cover up any imperfections with an area rug runner or similar although, on the whole, the old floor will need to create a smooth surface otherwise the vinyl will wear unevenly and tear.
